The solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary is Thursday, 8 December. This is a Holy Day of Obligations pertaining to the conception of the Virgin Mary in the womb of her mother, St Anne, wherein Mary was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin by God’s grace in view of the merits of Christ.
