The Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Adoration Chapel at Prince of Peace Catholic Church and School. In honor of this wonderful occasion, the Guild enjoyed a Saturday morning breakfast featuring a talk given by Sister Mary Sheila Maksim, O.P., Domincan Sisters of St. Cecelia, also known as the Nashville Dominicans. Sister Mary Sheila, who is also Principal of St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greenville, spoke on St. Thomas Aquinas and his love of the Eucharist.
The Guild also said a Rosary for the repose of the soul of Tom O’Donnell, past Coordinator of the Guild of St. Thomas Aquinas. The Rosary was introduced by Linda Head and the prayers were lead by Jake Ohlinger and Ernie Fernandez. During the Rosary, the sun broke through the clouds and shown brightly on all those who attended.

If you’d like to help Prince of Peace celebrate the Advent season, a great way to do so is to host a portion of CYO’s fifth annual progressive dinner that will be held Gaudete weekend, Saturday 12 December.
15-20 youth of our parish will travel to one parishioner’s home for an appetizer, then another house for an entree, then to one more house for dessert and a white elephant gift exchange. If you’re interested in celebrating with us and hosting a portion of our meal, please contact Stephanie Lasitter at stephanie.lasitter@princeofpeacetaylors.org or 864.331.3905.
Join us at the 10a Mass for the Feast of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. The choir will be singing Mozart’s Mass in C Major, KV 220 (Sparrow Mass). (more…)
On Sunday, 13 December 2015, His Excellency the Most Reverend Joseph Perry, the Auxiliary Bishop of Chicago, will come to Prince of Peace to celebrate a Solemn High Pontifical Mass at the Faldstool in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite. I had the great honour to be present at Bishop Perry’s consecration as Bishop in 1998. He is here in South Carolina for the Black Catholic Congress in Columbia that weekend, and has graciously responded to an invitation to come up to Greenville to see us. Bishop Guglielmone has given him the delegation to administer the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Old Latin form for the occasion.
All baptized children and adults who habitually attend the Extraordinary Form and are of confirmation age, and have yet to be confirmed, are asked to register with Stephanie Lasitter, our Director of Confirmation Preparation, by 8 November 2015. If you have been preparing for Confirmation, we need to know what program you have been using, if you are in a homeschooling program.
If you are interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation in the Extraordinary Form, you will have to come and sit for the Confirmation Exam on 8 November at 5p in Croghan Hall. If your paperwork is complete, and your examination marks are accepted, you will be invited to an Afternoon of Recollection on 15 November 2015 to prepare spiritually for the Sacrament. This afternoon is obligatory for those who will be confirmed. The Mass will take place at 6p on 13 December 2015. You will need to gather in Croghan Hall at 4.30p on that day with your sponsor. We will have a rehearsal on 11 December at 6p. For more information, please contact Stephanie Lasitter at stephanie.lasitter@princeofpeacetaylors.org or 864.331.3905. The registration forms may be found in the links below. Please return with a $75 registration fee ($125 family max) that will help cover the costs of this wonderful event.
