Catholic Identity Committee of the Parish School

The Catholic Identity Subcommittee serves for enriching the Catholic identity of Prince of Peace Catholic School and strengthening the domestic churches of our school and parish families.

This subcommittee exists to help maintain and enrich the Catholic identity of Prince of Peace Catholic School. We will work to encourage liturgical living in the domestic churches of our school and parish families; to find ways to be a bridge connecting parish, school, and home; to provide opportunities for service projects, continued faith formation, virtue development and spiritual growth in the classrooms and home lives of our school families.
“Do small things with great love.”  – Saint Teresa of Calcutta
“The future of the world and of the Church passes through the family.” –Saint John Paul II

The 2020-21 committee includes: Kristin, Emily, Elisabeth, Nancy and Maria. Anne Richardson serves as the 2020-21 chair. Watch a brief “hello” from Anne here!

Celebrating Liturgically

Each week, we pick a feast day, holy day or saint of the day. We provide a little background about what makes the day special and share ideas on how you can celebrate within your home (the domestic church). Also, we’ll celebrate certain feasts within the school day. Watch the parish bulletin, The Good News, and social media for this series.

Praying for Each Other

Members of the parish and school community are invited to adopt a student for the school year to pray for, sacrifice for, and lift up daily. In the same way parishioners are invited to pray for students, students will be encouraged to pray for those who spiritually adopted them. Families are encouraged to join the virtual rosary with the parish, too.

Serving Others

From feeding the hungry to standing up for life to clothing the poor, the CIC provides service projects across the school year to help students and their families perform import works of mercy.

Lending Library

The Catholic Lending Library is based in the school and is a carefully vetted set of books and movies consistent with Church teaching. This library will re-open when it is safe to do so.

Virtues Program

The CIC supports the enrichment of students through the Virtues in Practice Program. In 2020-21, the virtue of the year is HOPE. Learn more in our parent guide.
