Nathan Barontini
Principal Prince of Peace Catholic School
principal@popcatholicscho
Nathan Barontini has been a member of the faculty at Prince of Peace since 2017. He has taught history and religion and served as Dean of Middle School Students.
One of the things Mr. Barontini is most proud of is extending the middle school lector program into the upper elementary school, providing active roles at the school Mass for students from fourth grade to eighth grade. He also enjoyed coaching boy’s soccer, eventually winning SCYSA’s Boys Recreational Coach of the Year.
Before joining the faculty at Prince of Peace, Mr. Barontini taught a fourteen-week exposition on Dante’s Divine Comedy at the parish. Dante Alighieri’s writings prompted Mr. Barontini’s journey back to Catholicism from atheism. Other important thinkers who paved the way for his conversion include: St. Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine of Hippo, Plato, Pope Benedict XVI, C.S. Lewis, Aristotle and many others.
Mr. Barontini relocated his family from Pittsburgh to Greenville after a visit to the area which included Mass at Prince of Peace. After returning home, he was impressed with the responses to the emails he sent to Father Tomlinson and Father Smith. In quick order, Mr. Barontini decided Prince of Peace was the “spiritual home” for his family. The Barontini family moved to Greenville in 2014 and have been deeply engaged in and committed to Prince of Peace ever since.
Mr. Barontini graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh where he studied history and classics and attained a master’s degree in teaching. He is a member of the Dante Society of America, the Knights of Columbus, and the honor societies: Pi Lambda Theta, Phi Eta Sigma, and Phi Alpha Theta.
Mr. Barontini’s passion as principal is to uphold the high academic standards, virtue development, and deep commitment to the Catholic Faith for which the school is known.
At Prince of Peace Catholic School, the principal reports directly to the pastor and serves as the director and manager of the day-to-day operations of the school. The principal works to uphold the Catholic mission of the school in the development of policies and protocols, and to provide direction and oversight to the programs and personnel of the school.
Michael Sandifer

Michael grew up in Columbia, SC where he received his BS in Theology from Columbia International University. After a few years teaching English overseas with his wife, Katie, he returned to the United States and pursued his MA in Theology at both Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry in Pennsylvania and Nashotah House Theological Seminary in Wisconsin seeking ordination as minister in the Anglican Church. When it became clear to him and Katie that they were being called into the Catholic Church, he temporarily paused his studies in order to support his growing family and they were received into the Church at St. Jerome Parish in Oconomowoc, WI in 2017. He and his family relocated to Greenville 2019. Michael is responsible for adult catechesis, faith formation and evangelization in the parish and is excited to explore new ways to invite people into the fullness of the Christian faith as revealed in the Catholic Church. He serves as ministry liaison for the staff and parish, and is always happy to connect new families to the tireless work Prince of Peace volunteers provide in so many different and exciting ministries. He received his Master of Arts in Religion from Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry, and actively continues his study of the Christian Faith, focusing in particular on liturgy, scripture, and the evangelizing bridge of beauty.
